We eat a lot of Greek-inspired meals at our house. Over the past year I have spent a lot of time learning how to make pita bread at home.

We now have some sort of pita meal probably once every couple of weeks. I love to make pitas with falafel, lemon and oregano chicken, Greek salads, hummus, and more.

As we've been making more pita and Greek-inspired foods, I've been working on making sauces too. Greek yogurt sauces are a favorite and homemade Greek dressing is one I make a lot. But, this easy homemade lemon and garlic tahini sauce is the one I love the most.

I recently discovered this Mighty Sesame Co. Tahnini and I love it (this post is not sponsored; I just really like this product). It's squeezable, smooth, and the consistency makes working with it a lot easier than some jarred versions that are sometimes thicker and need to be stirred well. I have been using that brand for all my tahini recipes lately and it works so well and is delicious.

This recipe can be adapted to be a sauce, salad dressing, or a dip. You can easily adjust the amount of water until your reach a consistency that you want for your use. You can even add a bit more or less fresh lemon juice if you prefer.

What do you serve lemon garlic tahini sauce with? If you leave it slightly thicker, it's terrific as a dip for cucumber, peppers, tomatoes, pitas and pita crackers, and more.

If you make it more like a sauce or salad dressing consistency, then it's great for drizzling onto pita sandwiches, falafel, or salads. It's a great sauce recipe to have on hand for warmer weather as well to pair with summer salads and vegetable platters.

Dips and sauces are a great way to make meals more flavorful and delicious, and they are also a great way to get kids more interested in trying new foods.

Kids often love to dip vegetables and other foods or to put on their own sauces when putting together their own plates. This is a great way to encourage kids to be curious about foods and try new things without any pressure.

I add one or two cloves or garlic depending on their size. Since the garlic is raw it can still have a bit of a bite to it, so start with one and you can always add another when you taste your sauce. The longer the sauce sits the more the garlic flavor will permeate through the sauce, too.

Give this easy homemade sauce a try!

Easy Lemon Garlic Tahini Sauce

Easy Lemon Garlic Tahini Sauce

This easy lemon garlic tahini sauce can be made quickly in a blender or food processor and compliments many meals and snacks. It's flavorful, delicious, and requires only a few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1-2 garlic cloves
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
  • about 1/2 cup cold water (more or less depending on the brand of tahini and your desired consistency of the sauce)

Instructions

  1. Place the tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and about 1/4 teaspoon of salt in a blender. Turn on to blend and slowly stream in the cold water.
  2. Continue to add water until the sauce is your desired consistency. You can leave it thicker for a dip, or make it thinner for a sauce or salad dressing.
  3. Scrape down the sides of the blender as needed. Taste for salt and add more if desired.
  4. Place the tahini sauce in a bowl and stir in the parsley. Cover and refrigerate for about an hour or until serving. Stir before serving.

Notes:

While you are blending, the tahini will first start to thicken before it starts to thin out. Keep slowly drizzling the cold water until it thins to your desired consistency.
