Apples are a terrific addition to many savory meals and recipes. They pair perfectly with cheese, chicken, pork, vegetables, bread, and many warm spices.
Fall is here and that means it's time for apples! Apple picking, apple cider, applesauce, apple pie, and lots of apples to use in your cooking and baking. While we all know apples make amazing desserts, today I'm highlighting some delicious ways to try apples in savory recipes. This round-up includes salads, side dishes, stew, burgers, sandwiches, and other main dishes all featuring apples. If you have bushels of apples this fall from apple picking, or just a few from the grocery store or the backyard, you're sure to find a new way to enjoy them.
Raw or cooked, sweet or tart, green or red or even yellow, there's always a way to enjoy apples in your cooking! I saw that one of our local orchards is already experiencing unprecedented numbers of pickers this year. U-pick activities have been more popular than even this year!
