A simple and family friendly dinner that is sure to become a favorite. Turkey taco crescent pie only requires a few ingredients and can be customized to your liking.
This recipe is my twist on this popular recipe. I like to make mine with turkey and add in my own spices. I make a few other changes as well for this kid friendly meal, like adding in some bell pepper and onions, for a few extra vegetables.
Choose whatever your favorite taco toppings are and chop those up to put on top of this pie. We generally top ours with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sliced black olives, and sour cream.
Extra salsa, sliced green olives, sliced pickled jalapenos, sliced green onions, cilantro, and other favorite taco toppings can be added as well. We let the kids customize their own and pick their own toppings.
A side of corn also helps to round out the meal. It's a kid favorite and corn compliments the other flavors in this dish. Roasted broccoli, spiced black beans or pinto beans, or rice would also make good side dishes for this taco pie.
The best part of this pie? The very simple crust! All you need is a can of crescent rolls to make this light and flaky crust for this savory pie. Simply press them into the pie plate and then fill it and bake.
If your family likes tacos, give this dish a try for a fun and delicious twist on taco night!

Turkey Taco Crescent Pie
A simple and family friendly dinner that is sure to become a favorite. Turkey taco crescent pie only requires a few ingredients and can be customized to your liking.
Ingredients:
- I tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped bell pepper (I use red or orange)
- salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 cup salsa of your choice
- 1 can crescent rolls
- 1-1/4 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend (or cheddar cheese)
- toppings of your choice such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, extra salsa, sliced black olives
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Heat the olive oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon or spatula. Add the onion and bell peppers and stir well.
- Season with salt, pepper, oregano, garlic powder, and coriander.
- Continue to cook, stirring often, until the turkey is cooked through. Stir in the salsa and let it warm up. Remove from heat.
- Open the crescent rolls. Lay them into a 9-inch pie plate so that they are touching and go up the sides to form a crust. Make sure there are no gaps, but it need not be perfect.
- Spoon the turkey mixture into the prepared pie plate. Top with the cheese.
- Bake for about 14-17 minutes, until the crust is browned and the cheese is melted.
- Let cool for a few minutes and then slice into wedges. Serve with your desired toppings.
Notes:
Use your preferred salsa for this recipe. I use mild since we have small children. You can use medium or hot. You can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce into the mixture as well.
