Halloween and fall in general is my favorite time of the year. Every year I love creating and enjoying new Halloween recipes and this #HalloweenTreatsWeek is no different. You'll find more recipes at the bottom of this post.

Candy corn is something people seem to either really like, or very much dislike. I happen to like candy corn and do make sure to get a bag each season. This pizza is inspired by the colors and shape of candy corn with its three color layers of yellow, orange, and white.

This pizza is savory though and contains no actual candy corn! It does, however, contain corn. I have seen photos of similar pizzas over the years that used pepperoni or even thin sweet potatoes for the orange layer, but this one uses corn, and then orange cheddar and mozzarella.

This pizza uses estimates on the amounts of the toppings. Some people like more or less sauce and/or more or less cheese. Use this as a guide and use the amounts that you prefer.

I bake my pizza on a 13-inch pizza baking stone. For this pizza you definitely want it to be in a round shape to get candy corn triangles when it is cut.

If you've never had corn on pizza before, you're in for a treat. The sweet flavor of the corn pairs really nicely on a savory pizza. We used corn we had frozen from a corn roast we had in the summer, so it was very sweet and delicious.

When putting your pizza together, you want to visually try to divide it into thirds, using the outer third for the corn, the middle third for the orange cheddar, and the center third for mozzarella cheese only.

The toppings will shift as the pizza bakes, so it won't be perfect when it is done. Also, the cheeses will turn a bit golden, so the colors (especially the white part) won't stay absolutely white when it's finished cooking.

Shredding your own cheese will result in a better pizza as it will melt more smoothly than the pre-shredded cheeses.

Another thing you could do is to use an Alfredo sauce rather than a traditional tomato pizza sauce. This would help with the colors remaining more true to candy corn. I like the tomato sauce better for taste.

Make sure to let the pizza cool for several minutes so that the cheese won't shift too much or fall off the pizza while you are cutting it. Cut it into normal pizza slices that are like a triangle to get that triangle candy corn shape.

This Halloween candy corn pizza is super fun for a Halloween movie night, a Halloween weekend dinner, or any time during the month of October.

Serve this pizza with a green salad, spooky roasted potato skulls, Halloween mini bat taco cheese balls, or some raw vegetables with dip.

For dessert, we have a lot of Halloween themed options like white chocolate mummy crispy rice treats, sheet pan Halloween confetti cookie bars, vampire bat marshmallow pops, or individual Jack Skellington cheesecakes, to name a few.

Halloween Candy Corn Pizza

A Halloween pizza that has all the colors of traditional candy corn to make pizza slices that look like the classic fall candy.

Ingredients

  • 1 recipe for your favorite pizza crust, or store bought
  • cornmeal, for dusting, optional
  • 8 oz. pizza sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 8 oz. freshly shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups frozen and thawed corn kernels, drained of any water
  • about 3 oz. freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese (orange, not white)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  2. Lightly sprinkle your pizza baking stone with cornmeal. You want to use a round pizza stone or pizza baking pan for this pizza.
  3. Roll out and shape your pizza dough to fit your round pizza stone or baking pan. Place the dough on the stone and use your fingers to fit it to the pan and get it as circular as you are able.
  4. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving about a half inch around the edge free of sauce. Sprinkle evenly with the garlic powder and dried basil.
  5. Top the sauce with the mozzarella cheese (use more if needed to get full coverage).
  6. Sprinkle the corn around the outer edge or the mozarella, trying to get good coverage so the cheese doesn't peek though, covering about 1/3 of the pizza.
  7. Next to the corn layer, sprinkle the orange cheddar cheese, covering about another 1/3 of the pizza.
  8. Bake for about 20 minutes, until the crust is thoroughly cooked and the cheeses are all melted and turning golden.
  9. Let cool for several minutes before slicing.
